Vietnam urgently requests China to immediately put an end to its construction projects on Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and refrain from repeating illegal activities in the future.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh made the request on November 6th in response to China’s illegal construction projects on Chu Thap (Fiery Cross) Reef, part of Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago.
“Vietnam has full legal and historical evidence proving its sovereignty over the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa,” he affirmed.
China’s above-mentioned activities seriously violate Vietnam’s sovereignty over Truong Sa, infringe international law and run counter to the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC), as well as the agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues between the two countries, he said.
